15 DAYS :: IMAGINATIVE TRAVELLER'S "KILIMANJARO, SERENGETI & CRATER SAFARI"
Tanzania has two icons - the Serengeti and Kilimanjaro. This incredible combination of our 'Kilimanjaro Trek' and 'Tanzania Explorer Safari' takes you to the ice-caps of Africa's highest mountain and down to the rolling plains of the Serengeti where the largest migration of mammals takes place on earth! You then have a chance to explore the Ngorongoro Crater, a large extinct volcano that is a self-contained park known to be home to the 'Big Five'.

ITINERARY:
Day 1, NAIROBI - ARUSHA Take the early afternoon public shuttle bus from Nairobi to Arusha. Overnight in a lodge. (No meals).
Day 2, LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK Depart Arusha for Lake Manyara. One of Tanzania's most diverse parks, the combination of lakes, woodlands and mountains make game and bird viewing at Manyara superb. The park is home to large herds of elephants and is also known for its tree climbing lions. (BLD)
Day 3, SERENGETI Game drive with picnic lunch on our way to Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is unequalled for its natural beauty and contains more than 3 million large mammals all spread over the vast endless plains. Further game drive this afternoon, before setting up camp for the night in the Seronera National Park campsite. (BLD)
Day 4, SERENGETI Morning and afternoon game drives. (BLD)
Day 5, OLDUVAI GORGE - NGORONGORO CRATER Drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation area via Olduvai Gorge. Overnight at the Simba National Park campsite with spectacular views over the Crater. (BLD)
Day 6, NGORONGORO CRATER Ngorongoro Crater is one of the wonders of the world. A large extinct volcano, with an area of 259 sq. kms, it is a self-contained park with a huge variety of game and birdlife. Game viewing in the Crater is almost guaranteed to provide the 'Big Five'. We spend a full day on game drives in the Crater, with a picnic lunch. (BLD)
Day 7, ARUSHA This morning we return to Arusha, arriving back at around lunchtime. Afternoon at leisure in this bustling safari town. (B)
Day 8, ARUSHA - MOSHI Transfer from Arusha to Moshi, where the rest of the day is free. (BD)
Day 9, KILI TREK - MANDARA (2725m) After breakfast transfer to Marangu Gate. Commence your trek, through beautiful rainforest to Mandara Hut. (BLD)
Day 10, HOROMBO HUT (3700m) Continue your climb to Horombo Hut. Leaving the rainforest, the vegetation will change to stunted clumps of heather, 'everlasting' flowers and short tussock grasses. (BLD)
Day 11, HOROMBO A day for acclimatisation with a walk to Point Mawenzi (4600m). Return to Horombo Hut for the night. (BLD)
Day 12, KIBO HUT (4700m) Set off early and continue up to the dry and rugged saddle area between the peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo. Overnight at Kibo Hut. (BLD)
Day 13, UHURU PEAK (5895m) The final ascent starts around midnight or the early hours of the morning. The most demanding ascent of the trek is the slow walk up increasingly steep scree to Gillman's Point (5690m). Then continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. A spectacular sunrise with Africa laid out at your feet will make all the hard work worthwhile! Descend to Horombo Hut for a well earned rest. (BLD)
Day 14, MOSHI Descend to the park gate and transfer to your Moshi hotel for overnight. (BLD)
Day 15, MOSHI TO NAIROBI Morning public shuttle bus to Nairobi, arriving late afternoon.
