8 DAYS :: IMAGINATIVE TRAVELLER'S
"KENYA HIGHLIGHTS TOUR"
|
 This 8 day camping safari provides you
with an excellent insight into the diverse attractions that make Kenya
such a popular destination: wildlife, scenery and culture. Stunning
Rift Valley Lakes, vast herds of wildebeest in the Masai Mara and the
unique scenery in Samburu combine to make this a memorable adventure.
Whilst on safari we should be lucky enough to see the "Big Five" -
lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino.
ITINERARY
Day 1, NAIROBI - MT KENYA We leave the city early and travel
north to our campsite at the foot of Mt Kenya (5199m). Afternoon free
to enjoy an optional walk in the forest around the base of Mt Kenya,
known for its prolific bird life and Colobus monkeys. (LD)
Day 2, SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE Continue north to the Samburu
National Reserve where we set up our bush camp for the next two nights,
enjoying a game drive en route. (BLD)
Day 3, SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE We enjoy an early morning game
drive. In the late afternoon we head out on another game drive,
returning to the campsite for dinner around the camp fire. (BLD)
Day 4, THOMPSON'S FALLS We travel to Thompson's Falls, arriving
in time for lunch. We have the afternoon to explore the falls, which
during the rainy season are particularly spectacular. (BLD)
Day 5, LAKE NAKURU Today we travel to Lake Nakuru, famous for
being the home of up to two million flamingos. The park is also well
known for leopard, and as it is a rhino sanctuary, sightings of black
and white rhino are common, as well as lion and buffalo. (BLD)
Day 6, MASAI MARA We travel to the famous Masai Mara Game
Reserve, known for its density of animals including the 'big five'
and 453 species of birds. (BLD)
Day 7, MASAI MARA An early wake up for a game drive, returning
to camp for a late breakfast. Time to relax for the hotter part of
the day and then out for another game drive in the afternoon. We
enjoy our last dinner around the campfire, listening to the sounds of
the bush. (BLD)
Day 8, NAIROBI Today we return to Nairobi arriving around
lunchtime. Tour ends. (B)
